ISO 11452 specifies measurement techniques and test methods for the electromagnetic compatibility performance of vehicles and their components. It is the method standard for vehicle-level and large-assembly EMC testing.
Standard positioning
The difference from CISPR 25 is the level: CISPR 25 addresses components, ISO 11452 addresses whole vehicles or large assemblies. Used together they form a complete EMC verification chain from component to vehicle.
ISO 11452 applications" loading="lazy">Scope
- Applies to: whole vehicles, and large electrical and electronic systems such as domain controller assemblies and harness assemblies.
- Content: radiated emission measurement and radiated immunity measurement, including field injection and current injection methods.
- Typical use: whole-vehicle EMC scoping, pre-approval vehicle verification and problem localisation.
Structure and content
Part 1: General test methods
- Defines the various test set-ups, measurement positions and the test flow.
Part 2: Radiated emission measurement
- Whole-vehicle radiated emission, including antenna position, measurement distance and frequency coverage.
Part 3: Radiated immunity, field injection
- Field strength is generated by an antenna at the vehicle or component position while functions are monitored.
- Large assemblies commonly use BCI to inject interference onto the connecting harness, simulating coupling from an external field.
Part 4: Magnetic field immunity, bulk current injection
- Simulating the magnetic field interference produced by high-current conductors such as HV harnesses.
Acceptance
- Judged against the limits agreed with the customer or set by regulation. For whole-vehicle tests the limits come from the regulation, such as ECE R10, or from the customer.
- Immunity is assessed against performance criteria, with key vehicle or component functions monitored during the test.
Common non-conformities
- Whole-vehicle radiated emission over the limit — often contributed by one subsystem and needing sectional localisation.
- Vehicle functions abnormal during immunity testing — the analysis has to consider harness routing and equipment position.
- The vehicle state not being clearly defined, which affects both emission level and immunity behaviour.
Relationship to other standards
With CISPR 25
Different level: component-level versus vehicle and assembly level.
With ECE R10
R10 is the approval regulation; ISO 11452 supplies the test methods the regulation cites as its technical basis.
With OEM standards
OEMs define their own whole-vehicle EMC specification on top, including set-up and limits.
Service notes
The laboratory holds both CMA and CNAS accreditations, with approximately 10,000 m² of space and 500+ instruments. All testing is completed in our own laboratories — no subcontracting. On-site visits and witnessed testing are supported.
Testing is scheduled per project. When submitting samples, tell us your expected timeline; we will confirm a feasible plan against current availability and keep you updated at each milestone.
